![]() ![]() Microsoft and Amazon announced cross-functional capabilities between Alexa and Cortana over a year ago followed by a live demo during Build 2018 (video below) and the broad availability of Alexa via the Microsoft Store will enable developers to add skills for both assistants to cater to multiple tasks. Alexa will also be getting PC-specific skills sometime in early 2019. Spotify support is not yet available but Amazon Music is fully supported and you can control music playback in a dedicated page. Alexa on PC also supports waking up on compatible devices. You can log in to using your Amazon account and use it like any other Alexa-enabled device such as the Echo. ![]() To run Amazon Alexa, your PC must be running at least the Windows 10 April 2018 Update (1803) or higher. Now, anyone who wants to try out Alexa can simply head over to the Microsoft Store and download it on all Windows 10 devices. So far, Alexa on PCs was restricted to a few PC OEMs such as Acer who pre-installed it on their laptops. ![]() Amazon Alexa is fast turning out to be a worthy contender to the likes of Siri, Google Assistant, and Microsoft's own Cortana. ![]()
